Easter holidays in Roses, Costa Brava, are what regulars jealously keep to themselves. The Costa Brava in spring offers something that July cannot provide: freedom. Roses is one of the few seaside resorts on the Costa Brava to offer a full programme from April onwards. Unlike many resorts that don't truly open until June, Roses is lively at Easter, with shops open, restaurants in operation, and water sports available.

The weather it's mild and pleasant – temperatures range between 15°C and 20°C depending on the year, with beautiful sunny days. The wind can blow, particularly the Tramontane, but calm days are frequent and particularly bright.

La mer reaches around 14-15°C at Easter – ideal for kayaking, snorkelling and boat trips, but for the bravest swimmers only. Water clarity in spring is exceptional.

Prices are much more attractive than in high season. This is an opportunity to enjoy our apartments at advantageous prices, with the same quality of stay.

In 2026, Easter falls on the Sunday 5 April, with Easter Monday on April 6th – a public holiday in Catalonia. The French spring school holidays generally surround this period, making it an ideal week for families.

Attention: The Easter weekend is one of the busiest at the Franco-Spanish border crossing at Perthus. If you are arriving by car from France, it is advisable to leave Thursday evening or Friday very early in the morning to avoid traffic jams. Hike along the Camí de Ronda

Spring is arguably the best season to explore the Camí de Ronda. The vegetation is lush, the temperatures are ideal for walking, and the wild coves accessible on foot are deserted. Set off early in the morning from Canyelles Petites towards Cap de Creus – the spectacle is unforgettable.

Spring waters offer exceptional clarity, perfect for exploring the hidden coves of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. Several providers in Roses offer guided excursions from April. Children aged 6-7 and upwards can participate in double kayaks.

Day trip to Cadaqués

Visit to the Ciutadella of Roses

La Ciutadella is open from spring and is particularly pleasant to visit when it's not yet too hot. Allow 1.5 hours for a complete tour of this site, which spans 2,500 years of history.

Birdwatching at the Aiguamolls

Spring is the best time of year to visit the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Nature Park. It's migration season – flamingos, storks and dozens of bird species pass through this protected wetland. 15 minutes from Roses, it's an ideal half-day out with children.

Rose Market

The local market in Roses is held several times a week and offers fresh produce, handicrafts, and Catalan specialities. At Easter, some markets feature special stalls with the 'mona de Pasqua' – the traditional Catalan Easter cake, given by godparents to their godchildren.

🌊 Easter beaches — What you need to know

At Easter, the beaches of Roses are in their purest state: no parasols, no sunbeds, no street vendors. Just sand, sea, and sky. It's complete freedom.

Canyelles Petites beach, 100 metres from our apartments, is particularly beautiful in spring. Its calm, crystal-clear waters make it a perfect spot for snorkelling from the first warm days.

Advice: Days without the Tramontane wind at Easter are often the most beautiful of the year – intensely blue skies, a sea as flat as a mirror. Keep an eye on the weather and organise your boat trips for these days.

The vast majority of Restaurants in Canyelles Petites and Roses are open at Easter – it is one of the first major openings of the season. The kitchens often offer special menus for Easter Sunday.

💡 Important advice: Book your table for the Easter Sunday and Monday – these two evenings are in high demand and the terraces are often fully booked several days in advance.

Easter grocery shopping

Pack a jacket. Evenings remain cool in April. A light jacket is essential for enjoying terraces in the evening.

Bring your masks and snorkels: The spring water in Canyelles Petites is exceptionally clear – it's the best time of year for snorkelling.

Check the weather The Tramontana wind can blow strongly on some days. Plan alternative activities for these days (Citadel, Cadaqués, Figueres and its Dalí museum).
