Advice: Arrive early in the morning in July-August to find a good spot and enjoy the cool morning air.

🚂 The Roses Express tourist train

The Roses Express cultural tourist train offers different routes (Puig Rom, Falconera, Bay of Roses, Puig Alt and Jòncols) from which you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Bay of Roses and the Cap de Creus Natural Park reserve.

Some excursions include a picnic lunch in the mountains – a great way to take a break while admiring the Catalan Pyrenees in the background.

Ideal for families in Roses with children who cannot walk long distances, and for adults who want to explore the surroundings with ease.

Kayak in the coves of Cap de Creus

Sea kayaking is an ideal family activity on the Costa Brava. It allows access to the most beautiful hidden coves, only accessible by sea.

From Roses, several providers offer guided or independent excursions along the Cap de Creus coastline. Children aged 6-7 and upwards can participate in double kayaks accompanied by an adult.

Good to know The sea level is usually very calm in the morning – that’s the best time to go out with children.

Boat trip to Cap de Creus

From the port of Roses and the beach of Santa Margarida, various ferries depart for the Medes Islands and Cap de Creus Natural Parks, with their small coves of white sand and turquoise waters.

The Bay of Roses is part of the club of World's Most Beautiful Bays – international recognition that attests to the exceptional quality of its maritime landscapes.

Children will love the story of the pirates who once haunted these shores. Some excursions even offer themed adventures. Pirates with a treasure map to boot!

Visit Roses Citadel

At the Ciutadella de Roses museum, children will discover how the first inhabitants of the Citadel lived and played, a site spanning 2,500 years of history: Greek colony, Roman town, medieval fortress...

It's an accessible and lively cultural activity, ideal for doing as a family in Roses, for children aged 7-8 and upwards. The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and ends with a beautiful panoramic view of the bay.

🥾 Hiking the Camí de Ronda

The Camí de Ronda (GR-92) is the best-known coastal path on the Costa Brava, easily recognisable by its white and red markings. It runs along the coast between coves and cliffs and links Roses to the wild coves of Cap de Creus.

Certain sections have been developed and are navigable with a travel pushchair, which is ideal for families with very young children.

Advice: Choose a morning outing in summer, take water and sun cream, and plan for a swim in a cove along the way!

Mini golf and amusement park Salata

Just next to Salatar beach is Minigolf i Parc d’Atraccions Salata, an amusement park with an 18-hole mini-golf course right in the heart of Roses, featuring various obstacles and difficulty levels.

A perfect activity for late afternoons or cloudy days, accessible from age 4-5.

Hiking in Cap de Creus Natural Park

The Cap de Creus Natural Park offers unforgettable hikes, notably a circular route starting from the Cap de Creus lighthouse which follows the rocky coastline between coves and inlets for about 2 hours.

Another hike that is very popular with children is the Paratge de Tudela, where they have to discover rocks shaped like animals (a camel, a rabbit, an eagle...) – a natural treasure hunt that keeps them engaged throughout the trail.

Snorkelling in the coves of Canyelles

For a snorkelling introduction accessible to the whole family, the paradisiacal coves of the Costa Brava offer ideal conditions thanks to the exceptional clarity of their waters.

Canyelles Petites cove, 3 km from Roses, is particularly recommended for families: its calm, shallow, and crystal-clear waters make it a perfect playground for children as young as 5-6 years old equipped with a simple mask and snorkel.

💡 Handy tips for families

Budget Allow around €30 to €50 per day per family for paid activities. Many activities (beach, hiking, snorkelling) are completely free.
